Quiltacy

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about recording, printing, and sharing your quilts.

Getting Started

Is there a mobile app?

Currently, Quiltacy is a website that runs right in your phone's web browser, with nothing to download. Our native mobile apps are actually already built; the only thing holding us back from launching them is funding, so every subscription genuinely helps us get them into the app stores sooner.

In the meantime, you can add a Quiltacy icon to your home screen. Our Progressive Web App (PWA) places an icon on your phone or tablet that opens the site full screen, so it looks and feels just like an app. See our guide to adding the Quiltacy icon to the home screen of your phone or tablet.

Can I use Quiltacy to record quilts I made in the past?

Yes, and that's one of the most common uses. Many quilters start by logging everything they've already made (decades of work) before adding new quilts as they're completed. Partial records are fine.

How many projects can I record?

It depends on your plan. The free tier supports up to 5 project records and WIP records combined. The Standard tier supports up to 30. The Premium tier is unlimited. Each record can have up to 10 photos regardless of plan.

Do I have to fill in every field?

No. Almost every field is optional. You can save a record with just a name and come back to fill in the rest over time. This makes it practical to log quilts you made years ago, even when your memory of the details is incomplete.

Can I use Quiltacy on my phone?

Yes. Quiltacy is designed to work on phones, tablets, and computers. You can photograph a finished quilt and log it right away without sitting down at a computer.

How do I add Quiltacy to my phone's home screen?

On an iPhone or iPad, open quiltacy.com in Safari, tap the Share button, then tap "Add to Home Screen." On Android, open it in Chrome and choose "Add to Home screen" from the menu. Our step-by-step install guide walks through both, and your account stays in sync across every device.

Your Quilts

What is the difference between a Project Record and a Work in Progress Record?

Completed Projects holds finished work: things you've completed and bound. Works in Progress holds projects that are still underway. When you finish a WIP, you can convert it to a completed project record with one click, and all your notes, photos, and cost tracking carry over automatically.

How does cost tracking work?

Each record has an Estimated Cost section with line items for fabric, pattern, backing, batting, binding, thread, and longarm quilting. You can edit all of the line items or add your own custom lines. Quiltacy totals them all up automatically. Costs are included in every project record by default, but can be hidden or excluded from any PDF or public gallery link.

Can I add my own fields to a Project Record?

Yes. At the bottom of the Project Details section there's an "Add a custom field" option. You can create as many labeled text fields as you need, for things like exhibition history, awards, special techniques, or anything else that matters to you.

How do I permanently label a quilt?

To help you remember to label every quilt, Quiltacy includes a checkbox for this step on every project record. For a guide detailing all of the ways you can create a quilt label, check out the labeling guide in Resources.

Printing

Can I print my records?

Yes. Quiltacy can generate two kinds of PDFs: a single-record printout for one quilt (good for gifting with the quilt or keeping for insurance), and a full archive PDF that compiles all your completed quilts into one document. You can choose portrait or landscape orientation, US Letter or A4 paper, and whether to include photos and costs. See the printing guide for more detail.

Sharing

Can I show my archive to other people?

Yes, optionally. You can turn on a public gallery link from your account settings. The link lets anyone view your Albums, Completed Projects, WIP Log, and records, without creating an account. You control exactly which sections of your archive are visible. The gallery is off by default and you can disable it at any time.

Account and Billing

What happens to my records if I stop my subscription?

At Quiltacy, we believe that records of everyone's quilts should be saved long-term. We would love to keep every archive indefinitely, but storage costs make that impractical. We also recognize that life happens and sometimes you need to pause a subscription for a while. So, we built a way for you to export your full archive and import it back whenever you're ready. Read the full guide to preparing your archive before canceling here.

What if I forget my password?

Use the password reset page. Enter your email address and you'll receive a link to set a new one.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to your dashboard and scroll to the "Your Data" section at the bottom. There you'll find a "Delete account" option that permanently removes your account, all your project and WIP records, and all your photos. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone, so we recommend using the "Download My Data" button in that same section to save a copy of everything first. Read the full guide to preparing your archive before canceling here.

Are there terms of service I should know about?

Yes. Our Terms of Service cover things like acceptable use, account termination, and our liability limitations. See our complete Terms of Service here.

Is my data private?

Yes. Each account is completely separate. You can only ever see your own quilts and works in progress; no one else can view your records unless you choose to create a public gallery link (which is entirely optional and off by default). Your data is always yours: from your dashboard you can download everything you've recorded (all records as a spreadsheet, plus every photo) as a single ZIP file at any time. See our complete Privacy Policy here.

Does Quiltacy work for quilters outside the United States?

Yes. The cost tracking supports multiple currencies, and PDFs can be generated on A4 paper as well as US Letter.
